KLR Executive Search Group is proud to partner with the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) to recruit its next President & CEO. ACCA is the leading national association representing HVAC contractors, with roughly 3,000 member companies, a fully remote team of approximately 18 employees, and a mission built on advocacy, education, connection, and industry leadership.
This is a rare opportunity to lead the voice of an essential American industry at a pivotal moment- as electrification, refrigerant transitions, workforce shortages, and evolving regulations reshape the HVAC trade. The President & CEO will report to the Board of Directors and serve as ACCA's chief ambassador, strategic leader, and team leader, building on the organization's strong national brand to grow membership, expand influence, and increase the value ACCA delivers to contractors every day.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with the Board to develop and execute ACCA's strategic vision and translate it into measurable results.
- Lead, inspire, and build accountability across ACCA's staff team.
- Drive membership growth and elevate member programs, conferences, and peer groups.
- Serve as a credible advocate on legislative, regulatory, and industry issues affecting contractors.
- Strengthen relationships with manufacturers, sister associations, and other industry partners.
- Improve organizational structure, systems, and operational processes.
- Maintain strong financial oversight and disciplined resource allocation.
- Act as the visible, public face of ACCA at industry and member events.
Qualifications:
- Senior executive leadership experience with a track record of leading teams and organizations.
- Experience leading a membership association, trade organization, or mission-driven nonprofit preferred.
- Strong business acumen across strategy, operations, and financial management.
- Experience working with Boards of Directors and volunteer leaders strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders and drive membership or business growth.
- Advocacy, government relations, or regulatory experience preferred.
- Understanding of contractors, the trades, or small business ownership preferred.
- Bachelor's degree plus 10+ years of relevant leadership experience preferred; equivalent experience considered.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Base salary range of $370,000 – $390,000.
- Bonus opportunity based on individual and organizational performance.
