Your new company
An established government team is seeking an experienced Principal Policy Advisor to support strategic policy work during a period of increased demand. This is a full-time temporary contract opportunity for an initial 6 months, with a strong likelihood of extension up to 12 months. The role sits within a small, collaborative team and offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful policy outcomes through both development and implementation work. This position is suited to someone who thrives in lean environments and can operate with a high degree of autonomy while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
Your new role
Reporting to a senior manager, key accountabilities include:
- Leading and contributing to strategic policy development
- Supporting policy implementation and monitoring outcomes
- Undertaking stakeholder engagement across government and external partners
- Providing high-quality advice, briefings, and correspondence
- Government liaison, including coordination across agencies
- Potential staff supervision responsibilities
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you will bring:
- Demonstrated experience working within government environments (strongly preferred)
- Proven experience in policy development and implementation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a small, fast-paced, and collaborative team
- Experience in social policy, or related areas (desirable)
