CarterPierce is partnered with a leading middle-market private equity firm managing several billion dollars of assets across buyout and growth equity strategies. The firm has built a differentiated investment model centered on thematic market research, proprietary sourcing, and value creation, investing in growth-oriented businesses across a range of sectors including business services, technology-enabled services, financial services, industrial technology, government services, and consumer sectors. The firm is seeking to add to its Strategy & Market Insights team. This group plays a highly visible role across the entire investment lifecycle and works directly with investment professionals, operating executives, management teams, and portfolio company boards.

About the Role

This role sits at the intersection of investing, strategy consulting, and portfolio value creation. Team members are responsible for developing proprietary industry theses, identifying investment opportunities, conducting market and commercial diligence, and partnering with portfolio companies on growth initiatives. The position offers significant exposure to both deal execution and post-close value creation, with meaningful opportunities for long-term advancement within the investment platform and portfolio company leadership teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop research-driven investment theses around attractive market segments and emerging industry trends
  • Conduct market mapping exercises to identify potential acquisition targets and investment opportunities
  • Build industry expertise across multiple sectors and end markets
  • Support proprietary sourcing initiatives alongside the investment team
  • Lead market and commercial diligence efforts for prospective investments
  • Analyze competitive landscapes, customer dynamics, industry structure, and growth drivers
  • Evaluate market attractiveness and strategic positioning of potential targets
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior investment professionals
  • Partner with portfolio company leadership teams to develop growth strategies
  • Support strategic, commercial, operational, technology, and innovation-focused initiatives
  • Identify opportunities for organic and inorganic growth
  • Assist boards and management teams with strategic planning and execution

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of experience in Big 3 management consulting
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Experience synthesizing complex market and competitive information into actionable insights
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Intellectual curiosity and interest in understanding industries, markets, and business models
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
