Azooa is currently preparing a response to RFQTS LH-05985 and is seeking suitably qualified Senior Project Officers – APS6 Equivalent to support a potential engagement with the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD).

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-impact Federal Government and Defence ICT initiatives in the Australian Capital Territory.

🔎 About the Role

The Senior Project Officer will support the operations of a Project, Program, or Portfolio Office and contribute to the successful delivery of projects across ASD.

This role focuses on project coordination, planning, reporting, governance, and stakeholder engagement within a Defence ICT environment.

You will provide operational and coordination support across project delivery functions, helping ensure effective planning, reporting, governance, and engagement with key stakeholders.

🔹 Location: ACT – onsite only

🔹 Start Date: 30 June 2026

🔹 Duration: 36 months

• 12-month initial term

• 2 x 12-month extension options

🔹 Hours: Up to 40 hours per week

🔹 Indicative Rate: $100–$130/hour including superannuation

🔹 Security Clearance: Positive Vetting

🔹 Additional Requirement: ASD Organisational Suitability Assessment required

The successful candidate will provide operational and coordination support across project delivery functions, ensuring effective:

This role will suit an experienced project professional who is comfortable working in complex ICT environments and supporting project, program, or portfolio delivery within a Federal Government, Defence, or National Security context.

🛠 Key Responsibilities

📁 Project & Operational Support

🔹 Provide operational support to project management activities

🔹 Facilitate administrative and coordination requirements across projects

🔹 Support project managers, program teams, and governance forums

🔹 Coordinate project artefacts, schedules, registers, and documentation

🔹 Assist with tracking deliverables, dependencies, risks, issues, and actions

🔹 Support the day-to-day operation of project, program, or portfolio office activities

🗂 Planning & Process Management

🔹 Lead the development and maintenance of project planning activities and processes

🔹 Support alignment with agreed project delivery frameworks, procedures, and governance requirements

🔹 Assist with maintaining project schedules, plans, reporting cycles, and delivery documentation

🔹 Contribute to continuous improvement of project delivery practices

🔹 Support the use of appropriate project management methods, tools, and templates

🔹 Ensure project activities are coordinated in line with agreed processes and procedures

📝 Reporting & Documentation

🔹 Research, draft, and prepare briefs, correspondence, reports, and project updates

🔹 Support the preparation and submission of financial documentation

🔹 Assist with committee papers, governance submissions, and stakeholder briefing materials

🔹 Develop clear, accurate, and professional documentation to support decision-making

🔹 Maintain project records and ensure reporting information is accurate, timely, and fit-for-purpose

🔹 Support regular project reporting, including status updates, risks, issues, milestones, and dependencies

🤝 Stakeholder Engagement

🔹 Engage with relevant stakeholders in relation to project-specific requirements

🔹 Support communication between technical teams, project teams, governance bodies, and business stakeholders

🔹 Coordinate information requests, meetings, workshops, and project forums

🔹 Build and maintain effective working relationships across a complex stakeholder environment

🔹 Contribute to clear and consistent communication across project delivery activities

🔹 Support collaboration across Defence ICT, delivery, governance, and operational teams

✅ Essential Selection Criteria

Candidates should be able to demonstrate experience aligned to the following SFIA capabilities.

1️⃣ Measurement – SFIA Level 4

You will be able to:

🔹 Identify and prioritise appropriate measures, scales, and targets

🔹 Support the development of measurement methods across projects and teams

🔹 Define and manage data collection and reporting requirements

🔹 Design reports and reporting formats

🔹 Contribute to improved visibility of project performance and delivery status

🔹 Support evidence-based reporting and decision-making across project activities

2️⃣ Methods and Tools – SFIA Level 3

You will be able to:

🔹 Support the use of existing project management methods and tools

🔹 Configure and maintain tools within defined environments

🔹 Create, update, and maintain documentation for methods and tools

🔹 Support consistent application of project delivery processes

🔹 Assist teams to use approved tools and templates effectively

🔹 Contribute to improved consistency across project management practices

3️⃣ Project Management – SFIA Level 4

You will be able to:

🔹 Define, document, and execute small projects or sub-projects

🔹 Apply recognised project management methods and tools

🔹 Manage risks, stakeholders, schedules, and deliverables

🔹 Monitor cost, time, quality, and resource utilisation

🔹 Take corrective action where required

🔹 Support project governance, assurance, and reporting activities

🔹 Contribute to delivery outcomes in a structured ICT project environment

4️⃣ Quality Management – SFIA Level 4

You will be able to:

🔹 Support the development of improved practices and organisational processes

🔹 Assist with planning quality management activities

🔹 Facilitate improvements to quality systems and services

🔹 Support consistent, high-quality project delivery outcomes

🔹 Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement activities

🔹 Help ensure project outputs are aligned with agreed quality expectations

🎓 Technical Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will bring:

✅ Certification in project methodologies such as PRINCE2, Agile, or similar

✅ Experience supporting project or program delivery within ICT environments

✅ Strong coordination, planning, and documentation skills

✅ Experience preparing reports, briefs, committee papers, and governance documentation

✅ Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders

✅ Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities

✅ Experience supporting project controls, schedules, risks, issues, actions, and dependencies

✅ Experience working in Federal Government, Defence, National Security, or complex ICT environments will be highly regarded

🔐 Security Requirements

Due to the nature of this engagement, candidates must be able to obtain Positive Vetting clearance.

Candidates will also be required to complete an ASD Organisational Suitability Assessment as part of the engagement process.
