The Worldwide Aviation Support Services (WASS) program, an AAR business, headquartered in Rockledge, FL, provides global, world-class expeditionary and conventional aviation solutions to the US Department of State Air Wing.
Role Description
Responsible for maintaining the oversight of sub-contractor-vendor maintenance activities, quality control compliance and airworthiness release of DHC-8 aircraft. Additional responsibilities include the coordination of maintenance and logistics planning, property inventories/management and internal process-based audits.
Key R Esponsibility
- Provide direct supervision of aircraft induction and heavy maintenance activities at maintenance provider locations to make sure the work is performed in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
- Primary point of contact between AAR and heavy maintenance providers.
- Communicate aircraft status to AAR Maintenance Control, set CRS, and advise times.
- Facilitate aircraft movements.
- Ensures timely, and accurate processing of aircraft maintenance records for maintenance performed.
- Maintains partnership with contracted maintenance provider and OEM.
- Monitor workmanship and materials used during maintenance to verify compliance with applicable AAR, DOS, standards, and FAA regulations.
- Coordinate with various AAR and maintenance provider departments and seek resolution of problems or obstacles affecting the timely aircraft delivery.
- Manage reporting of service providers performance on a daily basis and ensure work is performed to contractual and budgetary requirements.
- Review and analyze provider invoices and recommend adjustments or corrections.
- Provide financial approval on non-routine costs and unit vendor invoicing costs for accuracy and budget adherence.
- Supervise vendors and maintain proper completion of AC records, computer data entry, and required forms.
- Sign work records in connection to work performed, if necessary, and act as liaison between vendor and AAR records department.
- Provide written authorization for the aircraft to return to service following heavy maintenance by signing the airworthiness release document.
- Verify, audit, and monitor all regulatory documents to ensure compliance and work has been completed in accordance with required instructions and regulatory standards.
- Identify and recommend beneficial changes to the Maintenance Program.
- Assist in developing the heavy maintenance plan for each aircraft check visit.
- Ensure that all heavy maintenance visits are accomplished in accordance with applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, AAR and DOS policies and procedures, and manufacturers manuals.
- Coordinate with regulatory inspectors, FAA DARs, to perform aircraft conformity inspections, as well as aging aircraft inspections.
- Review aircraft records and prepare aircraft induction records.
- Ensure parts are imported and exported properly IAW AAR policy and procedure.
- Direct oversight of Vendor RII and Inspection department items to ensure the highest degree of safety and quality.
- May be called upon to accompany AAR flight crew during airborne flight checks following maintenance work.
- Display effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to travel to CONUS and or OCONUS locations to provide field support.
- Other duties as may be assigned by the Quality Control Manager or Site Manager.
Basic Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant License.
- Minimum 6 years of experience, of which 4 must be specialized in supporting an aviation-aerospace program. A thorough working knowledge of TO military specifications is essential.
- Position requires a U.S. Department of State Moderate Risk Public Trust MRPT.
- Previous Quality Control experience on fixed wing DHC-8
- As a condition of employment, all candidates must be able to obtain a clearance, pass a physical to deploy, successfully complete a urinalysis and criminal background check.
- Proficiency in AWIS or (MIS)
- Operational Maintenance / Quality Control program experience
Preferred
- Associate or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, related experience and training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- FAA Inspection Authorization a plus.
- Previous experience with the Contract Field Team Maintenance concept and its application to Military maintenance, modification and repair of tactical aircraft systems
- Ability to maintain strong customer relationships
- Knowledge of Army Regulations 95-1, DA -DOS PAM 738-750 – 751 or Military Publications
