OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Quarry Engineer will manage quarry operations supporting the project, including material extraction, production planning, and resource optimization. This role ensures a stable supply of construction materials while maintaining safety and operational efficiency.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise and monitor all quarry operations involved in rock extraction, blasting, sorting, and stockpiling, ensuring continuous and reliable supply of rock for breakwater construction.
- Ensure quarry production meets daily and weekly quantity and quality targets required for the project. All other activities, which are associated with those responsibilities.
- Verify that all rock supplied to site meets the design gradation, density, strength, durability, and shape parameters required for breakwater core, underlayer, and armour layers.
- Conduct or supervise rock sampling, testing, and laboratory verification (e.g., specific gravity, absorption, LA abrasion, UCS).
- Reject non-compliant materials and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Work closely with the Breakwater Engineer (site), Resident Engineer, and QA/QC teams to ensure that all delivered rock complies with the approved design and technical specifications.
- Ensure proper documentation and chain-of-custody of tested and approved rock materials.
- Ensure all quarry operations comply with environmental permits, dust suppression requirements, and waste management procedures.
- Maintain daily and weekly records
- All other activities, which are associated with those responsibilities.
QUALIFICATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, Mining Engineering, or Geotechnical Engineering
- Minimum 10 years of experience in quarry operations, rock quality control, and grading for marine or breakwater projects
- Proven experience in rock sourcing, rock quality testing, and quarry production management (minimum 2 projects)
- Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory.
- Familiarity with breakwater rock specifications, rock gradation curves, and international standards (e.g., BS, ASTM)
