About The Role
Would you like to be part of a small, dynamic team dedicated to preserving the historical archives of Isle of Man public bodies?
The Isle of Man Public Record Office is seeking a flexible and friendly Records Assistant with an interest in Manx history to join our team. The Isle of Man Public Record Office is the official archive for Isle of Man Government and public bodies. We select and preserve records of Isle of Man public bodies which are of historical and cultural significance and make these records available to the public for research.
As Records Assistant, you will play a vital role in service delivery and collections care. You’ll support visitors to the Record Office, help them find historic records, retrieve material from our stores, and supervise the public reading room. The role includes answering enquiries about the records in our care, providing clerical support to the Records/Outreach and Archive Officers and Public Records Officer, carrying out building security and maintenance checks, and assisting with listing, surveying, preserving and cleaning records. You will also have the opportunity to participate in our active outreach programme, helping to deliver exhibitions, social media and events to raise awareness and encourage use of our archive collections.
