About the Opportunity

Our client in the public sector is undertaking a significant records and information management modernization initiative and is seeking a bilingual Records Management Specialist to support this multi-year transformation. This opportunity offers the chance to play a key role in redesigning and modernizing retention schedules, governance frameworks, and records management practices within a large and complex organization.

Working closely with Records and Information Management professionals, business stakeholders, and project leaders, you will help shape sustainable records management practices that support compliance, operational effectiveness, and long-term organizational goals. Your Responsibilities

• You'll draft and standardize retention rules, including retention periods, triggers, ownership assignments, document examples, and supporting justifications

• You'll design and recommend retention schedule structures using best-practice approaches such as big-bucket classifications, process-based groupings, and rule consolidation strategies

• In this role, you'll review records management policies, directives, and governance frameworks and provide recommendations for improvement

• You'll conduct legislative and regulatory research to identify applicable retention and disposition requirements across federal and provincial jurisdictions

• You'll develop change management plans, cross-reference tools, implementation materials, and operationalization strategies

• You'll create and deliver training materials, including guides, procedures, learning sessions, and short instructional videos

• You'll facilitate stakeholder discussions and support alignment across multiple business units and functional areas

Skills and Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive experience in records management, information governance, archives, or related disciplines

• Active membership with the Association of Canadian Archivists (ACA) or ARMA International

• Strong knowledge of Canadian federal records retention and disposition requirements, including Library and Archives Canada standards and practices

• Familiarity with ISO 15489-1:2016 and recognized records management best practices

• Experience developing or modernizing records retention schedules and drafting retention rules

• Demonstrated change management, stakeholder engagement, and facilitation experience in complex environments

• Proficiency with Google Workspace, including Google Drive and Google Docs

• Professional fluency in both English and French, with the ability to conduct interviews, develop documentation, and deliver training in both languages

• Experience supporting Canadian federal government departments, agencies, Crown corporations, or similar public sector organizations is considered a strong asset

• Experience working within media, broadcasting, or related industries is considered an asset
