The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Provincial Police, and East Region is seeking a qualified individual to join our Regional Intelligence Unit.

In this exciting, rewarding and challenging opportunity, you will provide tactical and strategic analysis related to local / regional crime trends for the purpose of establishing priorities, investigations and probes for investigative directions or crime prevention strategies involving crimes against person and property, traffic issues, focused patrol and community mobilization programs.

Please note:
The successful candidate will be expected to work out of 525 Queen Street, Smiths Falls five (5) days a week.

About the job

To provide tactical and strategic analysis related to local / regional crime trends for the purpose of establishing priorities, investigations and probes for investigative direction or crime prevention strategies involving crimes against person and property, traffic issues, focused patrol and community mobilization programs. To develop local and regional relationships/linkages with external and internal agencies, including the Provincial Operations Intelligence Bureau (POIB) and Provincial Operations Centre (POC) and utilize their expertise in relation to Regional intelligence gathering, analysis and dissemination.

Mandatory

Requirements

  • Ability to pass an OPP background/security investigation.
  • Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License.

Criminal Intelligence and Legislative Knowledge

  • Applied knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada, Canada Evidence Act, and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act to support intelligence operations.
  • Able to analyze regional crime trends including property crimes, crimes against persons, and traffic issues to support operational priorities.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Proven written and verbal communication skills demonstrated through reports, briefings, and policy documents.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support coordinated initiatives.
  • Experience with collaborating with other partners to ensure a coordinated response.

Analytical and Research Expertise

  • Ability to conduct tactical and strategic analysis using evidence‑based and intelligence‑led methodologies.
  • Ability to extract, collate, and synthesize multi‑jurisdictional data to identify patterns and gaps.
  • Prepare quarterly strategic assessments and targeted crime profiles to support proactive policing.
  • Exercise sound judgment and creativity in developing operational strategies and recommendations.
  • Identified and assessed crime trends to develop strategic recommendations and mitigate risks.
