Role Description

The Resettlement Specialist is an on-site, full-time role based in Mozambique. The role involves planning and implementing resettlement strategies, ensuring compliance with local and international standards, and engaging with affected communities and stakeholders. Responsibilities include conducting needs assessments, coordinating resettlement activities, preparing reports, and ensuring social impact mitigation. The specialist will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to align resettlement actions with project objectives and community development goals.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's or higher degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Urban Planning, Environmental Studies, or a related field
  • Experience in resettlement planning and implementation, stakeholder engagement, and social impact mitigation in line with IFC PS5 standards
  • Proficiency in conducting needs assessments and developing resettlement strategies and livelihood restoration plans.
  • Strong project management, report writing, and organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively across multiple project locations
  • Familiarity with local and international resettlement standards and regulations
  • Professional experience in working with affected communities and conducting public consultations
  • Fluency in written and spoken Portuguese and English
