There is currently a vacancy for a Sheriff (Revenue) for counties Clare, Limerick, Offaly and Tipperary.
The duties and functions of the Sheriff are laid out in Section 12 of the Court Officers Act 1945. Sheriffs are responsible for the execution of certificates of tax liability (warrants) issued by the Revenue Commissioners for overdue taxes, are designated receivers of fines under the Fines (Payment and Recovery) Act, 2014, and collect fines on foot of recovery orders made by the Courts.
The successful candidate must have at least five years’ experience as a practicing solicitor or barrister in the state or as a managing clerk or principal assistant to a Sheriff and at least three years’ experience in the area of debt recovery. They must also hold a current Tax Clearance Certificate.
