Security Analyst

Rate Guide: $1,100 – $1,350 per day

Location of Work: Symonston, ACT

Contract Duration: 12 months

Extension Options: 2 x 12 month extensions available

Start Date: 1 July 2026

Maximum Hours: 40 hours per week

Security Clearance: Minimum active NV1 required at commencement. Ability to upgrade to NV2 highly regarded.

Working Arrangements: Primarily onsite at LNIC Symonston ACT. Limited remote arrangements may be considered subject to Defence approval and operational requirements.

Job Details

Babylon Data is seeking a Security Analyst to support a major Defence capability environment within the Land Network Integration Centre (LNIC). This role sits within the Security Assessment and Advice (SAA) function responsible for cyber security assessment, authorisation, governance, and advisory services across Army land mission systems.

The successful candidate will work closely with Defence stakeholders, technical teams, and capability delivery programs to assess and support secure land systems operating across Joint and Coalition environments. The role requires strong knowledge of Defence cyber security frameworks, ICT security standards, and system security documentation within high-assurance environments.

This position is suited to a practitioner with experience across cyber GRC, ICT security assessment, accreditation activities, and secure Defence or Government ICT environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct cyber security pre-assessment and assessment activities for Defence land mission systems
  • Develop and maintain technical and system-level security documentation
  • Support system assessment and authorisation activities in accordance with the Defence Cyber Security Assessment and Authorisation Framework
  • Provide ICT security advice aligned to PSPF, DSPF, ISM, and Defence security requirements
  • Engage with Defence stakeholders including AHQ, CASG, CJC, DDG, and LNIC teams
  • Participate in workshops and technical accreditation discussions
  • Review proposed system changes and assess impacts to approved security baselines
  • Support governance activities, security frameworks, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Contribute to security risk management and system assurance activities across deployable and tactical environments
  • Prepare documentation and artefacts for Defence endorsement and approval processes

Essential Criteria

  • Active NV1 security clearance
  • Relevant industry information security certification
  • Strong understanding of:
  • PSPF
  • DSPF
  • ISM
  • ISO 27001 and related ICT security standards
  • Experience in ICT Information Security and/or ICT Security Architecture
  • Experience producing security documentation and assessment artefacts
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills across Defence, APS, and technical delivery teams
  • Ability to operate within complex Defence or secure Government ICT environments

Highly Desirable Criteria

  • Experience with the Defence Cyber Security Assessment and Authorisation Framework
  • Experience working with Defence Cyber and Information Assurance Branch (DCIAB)
  • IRAP certification or prior IRAP program experience
  • Experience conducting security assessments within Australian Government environments
  • Experience supporting cloud certification and accreditation activities
  • Experience in ICT security risk management methodologies
  • Experience supporting Defence deployable communications or tactical network systems

Working Arrangements

This role is based onsite within the Land Network Integration Centre in Symonston ACT. Defence facilities and secure environments are provided onsite. Limited hybrid or remote arrangements may be considered on a case-by-case basis, however candidates should expect a predominantly onsite engagement model. Interstate candidates considering remote arrangements must be able to travel to Symonston regularly in accordance with Defence requirements.
