Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Security Officer role based in Lusaka. The Security Officer will be responsible for safeguarding people, property, and assets at assigned residential, commercial, or industrial locations. Daily duties include patrolling premises, monitoring access points, verifying identification, and ensuring compliance with site security procedures. The role involves responding to alarms and incidents, completing detailed incident and shift reports, and coordinating with supervisors, clients, and law enforcement when required. Security Officers may also support event security and crowd control, assist with CCTV monitoring, and contribute to emergency response, evacuation, and safety drills.
Qualifications
- Strong observational, situational awareness, and risk assessment skills, with the ability to identify potential threats and respond calmly under pressure.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with clients, colleagues, and the public, including clear report writing and incident documentation.
- Knowledge of basic security procedures and protocols, including access control, patrolling techniques, emergency response, and crowd management.
- Physical fitness and stamina sufficient for prolonged standing, patrolling, and responding quickly to incidents on-site.
- Ability to follow instructions, adhere to company policies, and work reliably in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Basic familiarity with security technology such as alarms, radios, and CCTV systems; willingness to learn new tools and procedures.
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or military service is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Relevant security training or certification, and a clean background check; possession of a valid driver’s license is an added benefit.
