Role Responsibilities

Are you interested in contributing to ALSS’s cross-jurisdictional engagement and supporting high profile intergovernmental discussions involving senior officials? SPPCA is seeking a Senior Intergovernmental Policy Advisor to join the Intergovernmental Relations Unit, to play a key role in supporting ALSS in engaging with partners across the country through research, policy analysis, stakeholder coordination and providing strategic advice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with key stakeholders for the purpose of gaining intelligence and strategically positioning Alberta’s interests.
  • Participate in the development of intergovernmental initiatives by analyzing interprovincial and departmental policy documents, developing briefing materials, and providing policy advice and direction to the Minister and Deputy Minister.
  • Facilitate the coordination and preparation of briefing materials for Ministers’ and Deputy Ministers’ meetings/teleconferences.
  • Monitor and manage intergovernmental relations issues and prepare draft briefing and correspondence that assist in defining Government of Alberta policy positions that serve to preserve and promote provincial interests.
  • Conduct research, monitor media and accumulate intelligence on international, national, and cross-jurisdictional related issues with relevance to Alberta.
