Role Description The Library Officer is a full-time, on-site position based at the CIS campus in Tonle Basak. The role is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the school library, including managing circulation services, organizing resources, and maintaining an inviting, learner-centered environment. The Library Officer assists students and staff in locating and using print and digital materials, promotes a culture of reading, and supports research and inquiry activities aligned with the school’s curricula. Responsibilities include cataloguing and shelving materials, monitoring inventory, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring that library policies and procedures are followed. The role also involves providing front-line customer service, assisting with library events and literacy initiatives, and collaborating with teachers and library leadership to enhance library services.
Qualifications
- Strong library services skills, including assisting users with locating resources and supporting research and reading activities.
- Experience with library management tasks such as cataloguing, organizing collections, and maintaining accurate library records.
- Knowledge of circulation processes, including check-in/check-out, reservations, and overdue management.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to support a diverse school community of students, staff, and families.
- Post-secondary qualification or coursework in Library Science, Information Management, Education, or a related field preferred.
- Comfort with educational technology, library databases, and digital resources; ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy school environment.
- Previous experience in a school or academic library, especially in an international or IB setting, is an asset.
- Ability to work collaboratively with educators and staff, and to model a positive, inclusive, and student-centered approach.
