Compensation Rate: $68,000 – $80,000 annually (Commensurate with Experience)
The Team
The Enforcement and Investigations Section of the Legal Division collaborates to protect Kansas consumers against insurance and securities fraud.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive high‑level investigations related to securities fraud, employing advanced interview techniques to secure statements.
- Synthesize complex investigation findings into formal reports and manage case strategy for presentation to executive leadership, prosecutors, and regulatory bodies.
- Analyze records to determine operational and financial conditions of entities, ensuring compliance with state and federal securities laws.
- Draft, execute, and serve subpoenas, affidavits, and warrants; testify as a credible witness in court and administrative proceedings.

Qualifications Licensing & Certification
- Currently or previously certified as a commissioned law‑enforcement officer in Kansas or another state; eligible for Kansas certification if from another state.
- Valid driver’s license.
- In‑state travel required; some limited out‑of‑state travel may be necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to testify in court without history of misconduct indicating lack of truthfulness.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Familiarity with electronic case management systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least seven years as a commissioned law‑enforcement officer with felony‑level investigation experience.
- At least one year working in the securities industry or a regulatory environment.
- Professional credentials such as Certified Financial Planner or Certified Fraud Examiner considered equivalent.
- Knowledge of criminal investigation techniques and procedures.
- Strong analytical skills for uncovering financial irregularities.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Interviewing or interrogating skills to elicit pertinent information.
- Calm under stress.
Additional Requirements
- Pre‑employment screening: drug test, criminal background check, reference/background check, and KBI background check.
- Verification of identity and employment eligibility under federal law (Form I‑9, E‑Verify). No visa sponsorship.
Employment Eligibility
A valid Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate is a condition of employment for all State employees. Applicants must obtain a valid Certificate within ten days of a job offer.
