EWEC fulfils these vital responsibilities through the short-term and long-term balancing of bulk supply and demand for distribution companies and authorities in Abu Dhabi and other Emirates. EWEC is mandated to implement strategic initiatives that will achieve the 60 per cent clean energy target outlined in the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy's (DoE) Clean Energy Strategic Target 2035 for Electricity Production in Abu Dhabi, in addition to enabling the achievement of UAE Water Security Strategy 2036, UAE Energy Strategy by 2050, and the UAE Net Zero by 2050 strategic initiative. EWEC is accelerating Abu Dhabi and the UAE’s energy transition by diversifying the country’s energy mix through developing and deploying renewable and clean energy as well as low-carbon intensive water desalination capacities. The Specialist – Regulatory Economist is embedded in the Economic Regulation Team and will be focussed on all aspects of regulatory economics including;
- Licenced Tariff (BST)
- Non-standard tariffs
- Regulatory Economics
Job Specific Responsibilities:
Maintain a strong understanding of the wider EWEC regulatory framework
Assist EWEC’s functions in meeting and understanding economic regulatory and compliance requirements
Led on selected policy/regulatory development topics through proactive and reactive activities
Maintain and manage the relationship with government regulatory bodies in relation to EWEC’s economic regulation framework
Identify, coordinate and implement any changes to the economic regulation or related frameworks for EWEC
Quantify the impact of any regulatory change on EWEC’s role and represent EWEC during economic regulation developments
Develop the framework to identify and plan for the advocacy on changes to the Economic Regulation framework
Planning and delivering advocacy for Non-Standard Tariff initiatives in line with EWEC’s strategy
Focal point as the business partner to internal and external stakeholders
Minimum Experience:
Bachelors Degree in Economics, Business, Commerce, Finance or Engineering
Minimum of 6+ years of experience in economic regulation management and compliance
Energy or Utility sector experience
