RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS).

Position Summary

Department / Research Program: IDIGH

RARE.Qc is a research network that aims to promote and facilitate collaborative research on rare diseases in Québec, with the goal of fostering scientific innovation and providing clearer statistics on the burden of rare diseases for the Québec population.

To accomplish this mission, RARE.Qc is seeking a part-time Strategic Development and Partnerships Coordinator to strengthen connections between the network and its stakeholders. Under the supervision of the Network Manager and Director, the incumbent will also be responsible for developing member engagement and participation within the network and contributing to its scientific outreach activities.

General Duties

  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with the network’s stakeholders to support its funding, advance its activities, and ensure alignment with the rare disease research ecosystem. Stakeholders may include private companies, government ministries, CIUSSS, healthcare institutions, research institutes/centers, universities, departments, faculties, researchers, clinicians, student members, patient partners, patient associations, non-profit organizations, other research networks (FRQS or others), professional societies, regulatory bodies, etc. Types of partnerships to be developed may include financial support for the network and its activities, in-kind contributions, service exchanges, scientific or organizational collaborations, and more.
  • Contribute to identifying funding opportunities and developing grant applications and partnership agreements. This includes monitoring strategic funding opportunities (public, private, philanthropic) and managing reporting and accountability related to partnerships.
  • Design and implement member and partner engagement and mobilization strategies, including the development of tools to facilitate member engagement (surveys, consultations, working groups).
  • Establish a network ambassadors committee representing different institutions to enhance visibility and foster engagement among its members.
  • Support the organization of dissemination, engagement, and knowledge transfer activities, such as scientific cafés, workshops, and summer schools.
  • Contribute to the network’s communications and outreach activities, including assisting with the drafting of the monthly newsletters, managing the network’s LinkedIn page and posts, and updating the network’s website content.
  • Provide administrative support for onboarding new members and completing their profiles.

Education / Experience

Education: Master's Degree

Field of Study: Science, health or related degree

Other education considered an asset for this position: Project management, Administration

Work Experience: Between 3 to 5 years

Required Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of oral and written French is required.
  • An advanced knowledge of oral and written English is required, as the position requires regular and complex contact with patients, with researchers or international students who are exclusively proficient in English.
  • Relevant experience (3 to 5 years) in project coordination, partnership development, network management, or research administration.
  • Good knowledge of the health research ecosystem in Québec and Canada.
  • Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders and build sustainable collaborative relationships.
  • Autonomy, strong organizational skills, initiative, and ability to manage priorities effectively.
  • Experience in rare disease research or a related field.
  • Experience in digital communications and social media management.
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and handle a variety of tasks as a member of a small team.
  • Ability to work effectively in a virtual environment.
  • Strong initiative and autonomy.
  • High level of organizational rigor and excellent follow-up on tasks.

Additional information

Status: Temporary, part-time: 21 hours

Pay Scale: Commensurate with education and experience

Work Shift: Other or part-time

Other: 21 hours per week, flexible schedule Monday to Friday, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

Work Site: 100% Remote
