Who We Are

Our central role includes managing the provincial power grid in real time, overseeing and evolving Ontario’s electricity market, engaging with government, municipalities and Indigenous communities, and planning for Ontario’s future electricity needs. Our employees play a key role in driving grid innovation, protecting the system from threats, advancing the province’s energy conservation programs, and forecasting and procuring the electricity resources we’ll need in the decades to come.

This is a unionized position that falls within the Sector and Community Engagement Division in the Corporate Relations, Engagement and Strategy Business Unit.

What Will You Do?

As Supervisor, Regional & Community Engagement, you’ll support the Senior Manager, Regional and Community Engagement in coordinating community outreach and stakeholder engagement initiatives that strengthen the IESO’s visibility, credibility, and reputation. Your day‑to‑day responsibilities include leading a high‑performing team, operationalizing engagement strategies, and delivering measurable outcomes at the community level.

  • Lead community outreach engagement activities and support cross‑functional working groups in implementing effective outreach with communities and stakeholders.
  • Manage the day‑to‑day implementation of outreach plans designed to generate public support for the IESO’s objectives.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholder and community groups.
  • Oversee activities supporting engagement initiatives, including research, promotion, public affairs, media affairs, and employee participation.
  • Develop and implement tools to facilitate the sharing of information and communication of project activities across the organization.
  • Create information resources to support outreach activities, including demographic information, contact history and stakeholder background data.
  • Ensure external information resources, such as the corporate website, remain up‑to‑date and provide sufficient information for stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of activities to determine effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Lead a team and oversee daily operations of outreach, stakeholder events, and program response initiatives.
  • Prepare a calendar of annual outreach and engagement events.
  • Assign work, ensure deadlines are met, and provide feedback, coaching and performance reviews for direct reports.
  • Maintain the organization’s stakeholder database and oversee the Stakeholder Relationship Management system, ensuring accurate record‑keeping.
  • Maintain a corporate library of stakeholder communications, graphics and relevant data.
  • Review stakeholder feedback to implement continuous improvements of engagement activities.
  • Support the Senior Manager with special projects and external resource management as needed.

To Succeed In This Role, You’ll Need

  • Experience supporting and implementing regional and community plans and programs, with public and community relations experience (advertising and media affairs an asset).
