Mission and objectives

The Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) supports evidence-based, coherent and coordinated UN system engagement at country level. The Country Analysis (CA) is a core analytical document that informs strategic planning, policy dialogue and collective UN action. The objective of this assignment is to develop a clear, professional and visually engaging layout for the Country Analysis (CA) of Maldives, that improves readability, accessibility and effective communication of key findings to diverse stakeholders, including government counterparts, development partners and the UN system.

Context

This assignment supports the preparation and dissemination of the Country Analysis, a foundational UN analytical product at country level. The designer will work remotely and interact regularly with the Data and Results Reporting Officer to ensure that the final layout aligns with analytical content, messaging priorities and UN branding standards. All content will be provided by the RCO; the assignment focuses exclusively on visual layout, structure and presentation rather than content development.

Task description

We are looking for one (1) Online Volunteer who, under the guidance of the Data and Results Reporting Officer (RCO) and in close collaboration with the Strategic Planner (RCO), who will support us by producing one complete layout design for the Country Analysis report, including cover, section templates and key visual elements. In particular, the Online Volunteer is asked to:

  • Review previous RCO analytical and reporting products to understand established layout approaches and visual standards, assess the preferred design style used by the RCO and ensure full adherence to corporate branding and design guidelines.
  • Create an initial draft layout design based on requirements and discuss it with the focal point.
  • Revise and finalize the design according to agreed feedback and requirements. The design and layout should follow UN branding guidelines , and is encouraged to use the SDG colors. All materials and branding guidelines will be provided.

Assignment requirements

Required Experience

  • Proven experience in graphic design and document layout, particularly for reports or publications.
  • Strong skills in design software such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator or equivalent.
  • Experience applying corporate branding guidelines consistently.
  • Ability to translate complex information into clear and visually appealing layouts.
  • Attention to detail and openness to feedback and revisions.
  • Good communication skills and ability to meet agreed timelines.
  • Previous experience with UN, development, policy or analytical reports is an asset but not required.
