Responsible for the professional application of the Secretary of the Interiorand#8217;s (SOI) Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties, The National Historic Preservation Act, and the Antiquities Code of Texas at all State Parks (SP) Division properties.Will review projects to be undertaken affecting structures and sites over 45 years old. Will identify historic preservation issues and recognize Areas of Potential Effect (APE) in relation to historic resources. Physical field inspections of APEs will be required. Will review plans for proposed construction projects including drawings and specification documents to ensure adherence to accepted preservation practices, SOI Standards, applicable codes, agency standards, or state and federal antiquities laws. Advocates for the importance of history and built resources on SP properties. Will provide technical assistance on historic preservation issues to agency staff.Will assist in the development of program goals, policies, reports, studies, and specialized projects. Assists the State Parks Historian with management of historic resource databases and inventory lists. Will perform an array of research, policy, planning, and administrative duties. Will assist Team Lead in performing required tasks. Will write historic structures reports or conduct technical assessments of historic resources located on SP Division properties.Will help plan, develop, and implement architectural preservation projects undertaken by Preservation Services. Will coordinate repair projects and trainings through agency programs and in consultation with maintenance staff. Will review and advise work being performed by outside contractors and architects on historic resources.Will assist Team Lead in consultation with the Texas Historical Commission, the state historic preservation office (SHPO). Will serve as a liaison to division, program, and field staff, interpretation staff, other government agencies, and the public. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all Program, Agency, and Division rules and policies.Note: Tasks and amount of responsibility will depend on amount of prior experience and classification of position hired (Program Specialist I, II, or III). Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelorand#8217;s degree in architecture, historic preservation, architectural history, construction science, or an equivalent field.Experience:Program Specialist I:One year of experience in the assessment, maintenance, or repair of historic-aged properties.Program Specialist II:Two years of experience in the assessment, maintenance, or repair of historic-aged properties.One year of experience evaluating built resources for historical significance and architectural integrity.One year of pr
