Role Description The Tracking Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Ndola. This role is responsible for monitoring and updating the status of trucks and cargo in real time, ensuring accurate records of departures, arrivals, and transit locations. The Tracking Officer will communicate regularly with drivers, dispatch teams, and clients to provide timely information on shipment progress and address any delays or route changes. Daily tasks include maintaining tracking systems, compiling performance and incident reports, coordinating with operations to optimize routes, and escalating issues that may impact delivery schedules. The role also involves verifying documentation related to trips, promoting adherence to safety and compliance standards, and supporting continuous improvement of tracking processes.
Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to use GPS tracking tools, transport management systems, and basic office software (e.g., spreadsheets, email, reporting tools).
  • Strong coordination and communication skills for working with drivers, dispatchers, and customers, including clear written and verbal reporting.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain accurate trip records, cargo status updates, and daily/weekly tracking reports.
  • Basic understanding of logistics, supply chain, or transportation operations, ideally within regional or cross-border freight environments.
  • Ability to work on-site in Ndola, manage time effectively in a fast-paced setting, and respond promptly to operational issues or route changes.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify anomalies in tracking data and escalate potential risks to operations or management.
  • Relevant diploma or degree in logistics, transport management, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Prior experience in tracking, dispatch, or transport coordination roles within a logistics or transport company is an added advantage.
