About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, proactive, and detail-oriented Trade Compliance Classification Specialist to support our corporate international trade compliance department. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring full organizational compliance with U.S. laws, regulations, and company procedures governing both import and export classifications.

Key Responsibilities
- Classification Support: Provide remote guidance and compliance support to regional and business unit representatives regarding HTS, Schedule B, and ECCN classifications.
- Technical Review: Analyze product descriptions, technical drawings, and material specifications to accurately assign HTS/HTSUS and Schedule B codes.
- Request Management: Prioritize urgent incoming classification requests, proactively communicating to gather additional information or supporting documentation when needed.
- Regulatory Interpretation: Interpret Customs rulings, explanatory notes, and legal regulations to ensure full adherence to import and export control laws.
- Database Maintenance: Update product database spreadsheets with new classifications and collaborate with the ERP team to update the product master database.
- Program Development: Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining the overarching corporate trade compliance classification program.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: A minimum of 3–5+ years of international trade compliance experience specifically focused on classification.
- Core Expertise: First-hand experience completing US HTS, Schedule B, and ECCN classifications.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive working knowledge of government agencies (including BIS, CBP, and OFAC) and extensive knowledge of the BIS Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
- Classification Skills: Deep understanding and utilization of GRIs, the US Harmonized Tariff Schedule, and Section/Chapter notes, with a proven ability to write defendable classification rationales.
- Technical Systems: High comfort level reviewing, manipulating, and auditing data in Google Sheets/Excel, along with experience using Global Trade Management tools and PowerBI/reporting systems.
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Transportation, International Trade, or a related field is preferred (equivalent applicable job experience may be substituted in lieu of education).
- Certifications: Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) status is preferred but not required.
