Position: Urban Planner Summer Jobs)
The Urban Planner will be responsible for preliminary site assessments of potential future affordable student housing sites.
Role and Responsibilities
- Land Use Identification
:
Work alongside the Chief Planning Officer to identify and evaluate university land for potential affordable housing projects. - Land Acquisition Assistance
:
Support the identification of potential site partners, participate in research, and assist in preliminary negotiations. - Planning Policy Research
:
Conduct research and analysis on applicable planning policies, such as official plans, zoning by‑laws, and the Ontario Planning Act. - Development Applications
:
Assist in preparing planning reports and materials for project business plans and development applications. - Land Use Planning Support
:
Provide assistance in preparing proposals for Official Plan Amendments, Zoning By‑Law Amendments, Minor Variance applications, and Site Plan Approvals. - Community Research and Consultations
:
Coordinate and support student unions in community engagement efforts, including consultations and stakeholder communication.
Compensation
Salary: $20/hr, 30 hours per week, 12 weeks
