Our client, a well-established commercial general contractor, is seeking an experienced Vice President of Strategy & Growth to join its executive leadership team and help shape the future of the organization.

Reporting directly to the President, this individual will be responsible for developing and executing the company's long-term growth strategy—aligning business development, operations, finance, marketing, and technology to drive sustainable revenue growth and strengthen the company's position in the commercial construction market.

This is a highly visible executive leadership opportunity for someone who thrives on building strategy, identifying new market opportunities, and translating vision into measurable business results.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of the company's long-term strategic growth plan
  • Identify opportunities for expansion through new markets, service offerings, geographic regions, and project delivery methods
  • Analyze market trends, competitive positioning, and industry opportunities to support executive decision-making
  • Partner with Business Development to strengthen pursuit strategy, capture planning, and Go/No-Go decision-making
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align operations, finance, workforce planning, and marketing with strategic growth initiatives
  • Develop executive dashboards and KPIs to measure organizational performance and strategic objectives
  • Evaluate acquisitions, strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and investment opportunities
  • Champion technology adoption and innovation initiatives that improve scalability and competitive advantage
  • Prepare strategic presentations for ownership, financial partners, and executive stakeholders
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the President on long-term organizational planning and growth strategy

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, Finance, or a related field
  • 10+ years of progressive experience within the commercial construction industry
  • Minimum 5 years in executive leadership, corporate strategy, business development, or a similar strategic role
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing growth strategies that increased revenue, market share, or service capabilities
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction operations, financial management, job costing, WIP reporting, and bonding
  • Experience with multiple project delivery methods including General Contracting, CMAR, Design-Build, and JOC
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Experience with pursuit strategy, capture management, and opportunity pipeline development
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms, business intelligence tools, and construction management software

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or other advanced business degree
  • Experience with a commercial general contractor serving K-12, government, or institutional markets
  • Background in management consulting, corporate strategy, or business transformation
  • Experience evaluating mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, or strategic partnerships
  • Familiarity with Procore, Autodesk Build, or similar construction technology platforms
  • Established relationships with architects, engineers, developers, and institutional owners
