The Vice President of Philanthropy is a strategic fundraising leader, with major gifts and institutional giving experience, a strong background in nonprofit development, and exceptional relationship-building skills.

Position Overview

An Oahu-based nonprofit focused on environmental stewardship, service learning, and youth leadership development is seeking a Vice President of Philanthropy to lead its organization-wide fundraising strategy and revenue growth. This executive role partners closely with the CEO and Board to build a diversified, sustainable funding model that supports long-term mission impact across the state.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute the organization’s overall fundraising strategy, including major gifts, institutional funding, corporate partnerships, annual giving, events, and planned/legacy giving
  • Manage and personally cultivate a portfolio of high-capacity donors, including solicitation and stewardship of major and principal gifts
  • Partner with the CEO and Board of Directors to strengthen donor engagement and support fundraising efforts
  • Develop and implement multi-year development plans and revenue projections aligned with organizational goals
  • Oversee institutional giving strategy, including foundation, corporate, and government funding
  • Build and manage a high-performing fundraising team, including setting goals, tracking performance, and developing staff
  • Establish and monitor fundraising KPIs, reporting, and CRM systems to support data-driven decision making
  • Represent the organization externally at community, civic, and philanthropic events

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or CFRE preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive fundraising experience, including senior leadership experience
  • Demonstrated success securing and closing six- and seven-figure gifts
  • Experience developing and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies
  • Experience working closely with senior leadership and Boards of Directors
  • Strong understanding of nonprofit finance, budgeting, and revenue planning
  • Experience in youth development, education, conservation, or mission-driven nonprofit sectors preferred
