What The Role Is
You play a pivotal role in developing and implementing comprehensive policies and strategies across records management and heritage management, ensuring MINDEF/SAF's compliance, operational efficiency, and long-term capability development. This includes integrating research spanning both domains, including oral history.
What You Will Be Working On
- Develop and implement comprehensive policies and strategies across records management and heritage management
- Ground policy development through strong research capabilities, ensuring policies remain current and relevant through ongoing inquiry and stakeholder engagement across MINDEF/SAF and the wider Whole-of-Government
- Drive policy innovation by experimenting with new models and frameworks that sustain long-term organisational culture and best practices in both domains
- Lead cross-functional teams and working groups in pursuit of shared organisational goals, guiding and developing the team by setting clear research directions and driving policy and strategy formulation
- Proactively identify and implement digital enhancements to keep records and heritage management systems robust, efficient, and secure
Challenge(s)
- Continuously aligning policy development in records and heritage management with evolving compliance requirements, organisational priorities, and whole-of-government trends
- Translating broad strategic direction into clear and actionable policy frameworks, grounded in strong research and ongoing stakeholder engagement
- Driving policy innovation that sustains long-term organisational culture and practices across both domains
What We Are Looking For
- Education in History, Heritage Studies, Museum Studies, or a related discipline is preferred; candidates from other fields are welcome provided they demonstrate strong and genuine interest in records and heritage management
- At least 6 years of relevant experience in strategic planning, organisational performance, or the records, archives, and heritage sector, with demonstrated involvement in policy and strategy formulation, project management, and stakeholder engagement
- Experience in policy and strategy formulation is advantageous
- Background in research, particularly in leading teams to conduct research that informs organisational policies and strategies is advantageous
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders and vendors
- Ability to write clearly and persuasively, translating research findings and strategic thinking into well-structured policies and reports
- Proactive mindset towards digital enhancements in records and heritage management systems
- Able to manage competing priorities and lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
