The Paris Peace Forum is a multi-stakeholder platform launched in 2018 that aims to respond to global challenges. Throughout the year, the Forum works to strengthen the governance of global commons such as climate, space or oceans, and to improve international management of global challenges, particularly those of digital and disruptive technologies. Its annual event, in November, brings together heads of state, government and international organizations, as well as leaders of civil society and the private sector, to discuss political initiatives and concrete projects, with an emphasis on the participation of the global South.

The team of the permanent secretariat of the association, composed of varied and diverse profiles (diplomacy, public relations, communication, programming, operations, etc.), is currently looking for a " Press relations assistant " to reinforce its teams.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

In support of the Director and Manager of Communications, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

Media relations:

  • Managing and monitoring media relations;
  • Drafting and distributing press releases and press kits;
  • Coordinating media participation in the annual event: identifying target invitees, following up, managing the participation tracker, and handling media flows and requests on site;
  • Supporting the French and international media outreach strategy, around policy initiatives, projects and various events;
  • Contributing to the organization of press breakfasts;
  • Drafting and placing op-eds in French and international media outlets;
  • Monitoring media appearances by the Forum’s spokespeople — President, Director General, Deputy Director General, policy experts, etc. — in print, television and radio;
  • Conducting active press and media monitoring;
  • Analyzing media coverage and post-event press impact;
  • Managing and updating the Forum’s media databases;

General team support — occasional tasks:

  • Actively contributing to the overall communications strategy through regular brainstorming sessions;
  • Preparing minutes and summaries of meetings and appointments;
  • Drafting and laying out newsletters using MailJet and Canva;
  • Managing the main contact inbox.

PROFILE

  • Education: Graduate of a higher education program (Master’s level), such as an IEP or CELSA;
  • Areas of specialization: in communications or journalism (Master’s level), or of a political science program with a specialization in communications;
  • Proficiency in English and French, both written and oral (C2 level or equivalent required) ;
  • Mastery of office software (Microsoft Office Suite) and digitally savvy.

SKILLS & QUALITIES REQUIRED

  • Good knowledge of French and international media stakeholders, across print media, television, radio and new media;
  • Good understanding of institutional communications and media relations challenges;
  • Strong interest in current affairs, international issues, public policy, cooperation, global governance and major contemporary challenges;
  • Excellent writing skills, with the ability to provide writing samples or other examples of work upon request;
  • Rigor, autonomy and initiative ;
  • Ability to work as part of a team ;
  • Ability to adapt and work to tight deadlines ;

CONDITIONS

Fixed-term contract for a period of 4 months with a starting date of September 1st.

Salary : 30 000€ gross per year (based on a 39h00 workweek).

Meal tickets and reimbursement of 50% of the cost of transportation.

The offices of the permanent secretariat of the Paris Peace Forum are located in Paris (15th arrondissement). It will be possible to telecommute for a maximum of 2 days per week, subject to approval by management.
