About The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Business Analyst to join our dynamic team. In this full-time role, you will support cross-functional teams in Agile or SAFe environments, facilitating backlog refinement, user story creation, and iteration planning. Your expertise will help bridge the gap between business objectives and technical solutions, ensuring alignment and clarity across project stakeholders. The role involves collaborating closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and development teams to define requirements, validate acceptance criteria, and lead stakeholder demonstrations. While the position is remote, candidates must reside within driving distance of Scott Air Force Base to facilitate occasional on-site engagements. Your contributions will directly impact the success of mission-critical projects, supporting national security initiatives and technological advancements.
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
- Ability to pass background investigations including checks for felony convictions, illegal drug use, and misconduct
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Management Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
- Minimum of five (5+) years of experience as a business analyst in iterative software development projects
- Familiarity with Agile and SAFe methodologies
- Proficiency with MS Office tools (Excel, Word, Project, Visio) and SharePoint
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point for capturing, analyzing, and managing functional and non-functional system requirements and user stories
- Decompose features into manageable stories within a product backlog for iterative development cycles
- Collaborate with Scrum Masters to establish sprint backlogs, resolve impediments, and define scope of work
- Lead and facilitate backlog refinement sessions, ensuring work items are clearly defined, prioritized, and ready for implementation
- Work closely with Product Owners to align requirements with business objectives and strategic roadmaps
- Define and maintain backlog content, including documenting stories, acceptance criteria, dependencies, and traceability
- Coordinate with Subject Matter Experts to verify understanding of requirements and ensure scope alignment
- Develop and validate acceptance criteria to support test-driven development and ensure work quality
- Prepare upcoming work items for future iterations through elaboration and refinement
- Lead stakeholder demonstrations and report on the outcomes of each software iteration
