SPECIAL NOTES:
Four (4) years of professional experience in Fire Science, Business Management, Education, or another related field is required. A post-secondary degree in Fire Science, Business Management, Education, or another related field may substitute for the required professional experience on a year-for-year basis.
Additional requirements:
* Florida Certified Firefighter II – FS 633.
* Florida Certified Fire Instructor III – FS 633 (required within eighteen (18) months of appointment).
* Florida Certified Contract Manager (required within eighteen (18) months of appointment).
* Five (5) or more years’ experience in the development of curricula of fire and emergency training programs.
* Five (5) or more years’ experience managing fire service training, facilities, equipment, maintenance and improvements, overseeing the management of facilities and equipment maintenance and improvements.
Preference:
* Three (3) or more years’ experience in School Administration for a college or Technical Training Program.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
This position spends the majority of their time communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees, and planning and directing employees’ work, and who have the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action, including all employees.
Administrative/Leadership:
* Directs the operation and administrative functions of the Bureau of Fire Standards and Training and the Florida State Fire College.
* Develops and implements rules, regulations, forms, and procedures related to firefighter training and certifications.
* Prepares technical correspondence and materials pertaining to Bureau activities.
* Develops and manages the operating budget for the Bureau.
* Enforces Chapter 633, Florida Statutes, and exercise independent judgment when dealing with agencies violating related laws.
* Administers the Florida Firefighter’s Supplemental Compensation program.
* Conducts research on emerging trends and best practices in fire safety and training, incorporating findings into training programs.
* Prioritizes and implements measures to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of firefighters during training and operations activities.
Personnel Management:
