Promote animal welfare as an Animal Control Officer I. Engage the community through education, monitoring compliance with animal regulations, and ensuring the safety of residents while handling various animal-related situations.

This role requires investigating by-law infractions, responding to public complaints, and patrolling neighborhoods to locate stray or injured animals. Your interactions will include advising pet owners and collecting evidence to prepare cases for enforcement actions. Furthermore, you will play a key role in enhancing public education around pet ownership responsibilities and animal control laws.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct patrols to monitor animal safety in public areas

• Investigate complaints and advise on by-law violations

• Transport injured animals to veterinary facilities

• Maintain records and reports on animal control cases

• Provide professional customer service to the public

Requirements:

• Completion of grade twelve and relevant animal care training

• Experience in animal care and customer service preferred

• Understanding of animal by-laws and community geography

• Effective oral and written communication skills

• Current BC Driver’s License and police clearance required

Actively contribute to animal control efforts while fostering positive community relations through education and enforcement.
