About The Role
The Senior Data Analyst at Sedgwick Government Solutions plays a critical role in delivering high-profile customer data and analytics to support strategic decision-making processes. Based in Bethesda, this position involves presenting complex data insights through effective reports and visualizations, collaborating closely with clients and internal teams to answer key business questions. The Senior Data Analyst enhances client value by applying advanced analytics techniques—including descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics—and translating these insights into understandable, actionable recommendations. The role requires a combination of technical expertise, strong communication skills, and a customer-focused mindset to support internal and external stakeholders effectively. Additionally, this position supports the development and implementation of new analytical tools, maintains data integrity, and ensures reporting accuracy, contributing to the organization’s reputation for excellence in data analytics and client service.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree in a data, analytics, or healthcare-related discipline is highly preferred. A minimum of three years of relevant analytics experience, particularly within healthcare management sectors such as Workers' Compensation, Health Plans, Insurance Industry, Medical Case Management, or Pharmacy Benefit Management, is required. Experience in communicating complex analytical findings to diverse stakeholders for at least one year is essential. Proficiency in analytical software and database reporting tools including SQL, SSMS, Power BI, Excel, and Access is necessary. Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau, R, Python, SAS, and Snowflake is advantageous. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within agile project environments. U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance are mandatory, along with the capacity to travel up to 5% as needed.
Responsibilities
The Senior Data Analyst will produce, document, and present both ad-hoc and scheduled reports, including visualizations and analyses, to internal and external clients. These reports should communicate performance results and trends in clear, layman’s terms. The role involves querying various data sources using tools like SSMS, VBA, Power BI, and Excel to develop insightful dashboards and reports that incorporate statistical and visual data representations. Collaborating with clients, project managers, and stakeholders to demonstrate program outcomes and provide strategic recommendations is essential. The analyst will support data integrity initiatives by ensuring reporting accuracy and optimizing reporting processes. Additionally, they will participate in quality assurance programs, test prototype software, and collaborate with technical teams to enhance data ingestion, database management, and reporting tools. Developing and maintaining data standards, documenting processes through Work Instructions or SOPs, and providing mentorship to less experienced team members are also key responsibilities. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for process improvements and supporting high-profile projects aimed at developing new analytical methodologies and tools.
