POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytically driven Data Analyst to join our Project Controls team in support of civil engineering and transportation infrastructure projects. In this role, you will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting project data to support cost management, schedule performance, and compliance reporting across a portfolio of transportation and infrastructure-related programs. You will serve as a key resource for data integrity, dashboard development, and performance metrics that inform decision-making at both the project and program levels. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collect, validate, and manage project data from multiple sources, including Primavera P6, project management systems, and internal tracking tools, to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance interactive dashboards and reports using internal systems and platforms to communicate project performance metrics to project managers, clients, stakeholders.
- Support Earned Value Management (EVM) analysis by tracking budgeted cost of work scheduled (BCWS), actual cost of work performed (ACWP), and earned value (BCWP) across active project portfolios.
- Prepare and submit monthly progress reports, schedule updates, and cost performance reports in compliance with GDOT reporting standards and contract requirements.
- Assist in monitoring project schedules in Primavera P6, identifying schedule variances, critical path impacts, and trends that may affect project delivery milestones.
- Track and report Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) participation data to ensure compliance with state DBE goals and federal requirements.
- Support alignment of project budgets and forecasts with the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) and Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) funding allocations.
- Conduct data quality audits and reconciliation of project financial and schedule data across platforms to maintain a single source of truth.
- Collaborate with project engineers, program managers, and finance staff to develop cost-to-complete forecasts and identify areas of cost risk.
- Support the preparation of project close-out documentation, final cost reports, and lessons-learned data capture.
- Respond to ad hoc data requests from project teams, client representatives, and project managers with accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain organized records and documentation of data sources, methodologies, and assumptions in support of audit readiness.
- Participate in project kick-off meetings, monthly progress reviews, and internal quality control reviews.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field.
- Equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience may be considered.
Experience
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in data analysis, project controls, or a related analytical role within the engineering, construction, or transportation infrastructure sector.
- Demonstrated experience supporting project controls functions, including cost tracking, schedule monitoring, and progress reporting.
- Experience working in a government contracting or DOT project delivery environment is highly desirable but not required.
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Power Query, and data modeling.
- Experience with Primavera P6 or equivalent CPM scheduling software.
- Working knowledge of SQL for querying and manipulating relational databases.
- Familiarity with GIS concepts and tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) for spatial data analysis related to transportation projects.
- Strong understanding of project controls principles, including cost management, schedule control, and earned value management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint).
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer workstation.
- Must be able to work under deadline pressure and manage multiple data streams and deliverables simultaneously.
- Hybrid work arrangements may be available subject to project requirements and management approval.
