Our client is a new international school in Hongkong just invested from mainland of China.

Job Title: Director of Admissions

Report to: Head of School

Key Responsibilities:

1.Strategic Planning & Market Intelligence

  • Develop and implement a multi-channel admissions plan to achieve enrolment goals for the 2026/27 academic year and beyond.
  • Analyze market trends, including the impact of falling local birth rates versus the influx of dependent children from talent schemes, to adjust recruitment strategies proactively.
  • Monitor competitors and identify the school"s unique selling points to different segments (local elite families, mainland professional families, returning overseas residents).

2.End-to-End Admissions Management

  • Establish and manage the entire admissions process from inquiry and application to interview, assessment, and final placement.
  • Ensure admissions are conducted strictly in accordance with the school"s policies and EDB regulations, including those concerning non-local student visas.
  • Implement a robust CRM system to track applicants and manage communications effectively.

3.Local & Non-Local Student Recruitment

  • Hong Kong Market: Lead recruitment for local students, navigating the DSS and central allocation systems. Develop relationships with kindergartens and primary schools to create a pipeline of feeder schools.
  • Mainland China & International Market: Capitalize on the growing demand from the mainland. Develop outreach initiatives to connect with families relocating under the Top Talent Pass Scheme and other immigration routes.
  • Diversity Recruitment: Explore opportunities to recruit students eligible for overseas curricula, keeping in mind the recent government allowances for increasing international curriculum spots.

4.Marketing, Branding & Community Engagement

  • Work closely with the marketing team to produce compelling content (brochures, website, social media) that resonates with both local and mainland Chinese parents.
  • Organize and host on-campus and off-campus admissions events, including school tours, open days, and information sessions in key districts (e.g., North District, Kowloon Tong) and potentially in major mainland cities.
  • Foster strong relationships with local community organizations, education agents (where appropriate), and regional education offices.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  1. Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, or Education preferred.
  2. Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience in admissions, marketing, or business development within the Hong Kong education sector, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  3. Local Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the Hong Kong school system, including EDB guidelines, SSPA, and the DSS landscape.
  4. Market Insight: Proven understanding of the current "crazy" surge in mainland Chinese applications and the specific needs of these families, including English language support and cultural integration.
  5. Language Skills: Excellent command of English and Cantonese is mandatory; fluency in Putonghua is essential to effectively communicate with mainland Chinese parents and stakeholders.
  6. Skills: Strong leadership, data analysis, and public speaking skills.
