Position: Experienced Officer 2026

Salary Information: $83,994.40 – $ annually (effective July 1, 2026)
Required Qualifications
Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Possess a full G Ontario Driver’s License or provincial equivalent.
Have a Basic Constable Training Diploma from the Ontario Police College or equivalent. If you are a police officer serving outside the Province of Ontario, a diploma from a recognized Police Academy is required (BC Justice Institute, Edmonton Police Service, Calgary Police Service, Saskatchewan Police College, Winnipeg Police Service, École Nationale de Police du Québec, Atlantic Police Academy or RCMP).
Have successfully passed a probationary period with your police service or equivalent as set out in the Community Safety and Policing Act 84 (1) and (4).
Preference will be given to candidates who have a minimum of 2 years policing experience.
Be in good standing with your current or previous service.
Hours of Work
Must be able to work all shifts as designated in the hours of work section.
The incumbent is required to work hours commensurate with a 24 / 7 shift schedule in order to meet operational requirements, between days, afternoons, evenings and/or nights (including Statutory Holidays).
Effort and Working Conditions
This position will require officers to work in adverse weather and uncomfortable conditions. It can require officers to sit or stand for long periods of time without relief.
In Service Training
Successful candidates will be required to attend the Ottawa Police Professional Development center (63 Slack Road) for training. Officers outside the province of Ontario may be required to write a provincial qualifying exam.
