The Role

The Financial Controller will lead the day-to-day finance function and provide accurate, timely, and commercially relevant financial information to support Regal Innovations’ continued growth and project delivery performance.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who understands project-based businesses and can effectively partner with operational teams across construction, maintenance, and civil works.

Your impact

You will play a key role in strengthening financial control, improving project profitability, and supporting better commercial decision-making across the business.

Your every day

  • Own the month-end and year-end close process, including journals, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and management reporting.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, board/management packs, and commentary on performance against budget, forecast, and prior periods.
  • Assist with annual budgeting and rolling forecast processes.
  • Ensure statutory compliance and support external financial reporting requirements.
  • Liaise with external auditors and support audit processes.
  • Oversee project accounting, including job costing, WIP, claims, variations, retentions, cost-to-complete, and margin analysis.
  • Partner with project managers and operational leaders to improve project profitability, cash flow, and forecasting accuracy.
  • Provide financial input into tendering and estimating, including pricing reviews, overhead recovery, and margin analysis.
  • Identify and escalate early financial risks such as margin erosion, under-recovery, billing delays, and working capital pressures.
  • Maintain strong financial controls across revenue recognition, WIP, cost allocation, project margins, payroll, AP, AR, and fixed assets.
  • Oversee leave accrual reporting (annual leave, sick leave, long service leave).
  • Monitor aged debtors and proactively flag issues.
  • Review supplier terms and credit applications.
  • Improve and standardise finance systems, reporting tools, workflows, and internal controls across states and business units.
  • Ensure financial policies and procedures are clearly documented, practical, and consistently followed.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial reporting efficiency and accuracy.
  • Work collaboratively with operations, estimating, procurement, payroll, HR, and senior leadership to provide clear, commercially focused financial insights.

Who are you?

  • CA or CPA qualified.
  • Experienced in a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or senior finance leadership role.
  • Strong background in project accounting, including WIP, job costing, margin analysis, and cash flow management.
  • Experience in construction, civil works, infrastructure, landscaping, contracting, maintenance services, or similar project-based industries.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge with experience in month-end close, audit, tax, and statutory reporting.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong financial systems capability.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central and Procore.
  • Strong commercial judgement with the ability to translate financial data into meaningful business insight.
  • Excellent communication skills with strong attention to detail.
