SPECIAL NOTES:
Four (4) years of accounting or auditing experience is required. A postsecondary degree in accounting or other Business Major may be used as an alternative for the years of experience on a year-for-year basis.
Preferences:
- Experience utilizing, maintaining, and analyzing databases.
- Experience creating, modifying, and troubleshooting Microsoft Access database queries and tables.
- Experience managing user access and roles in financial systems.
- One (1) or more years of professional accounting or auditing experience.
- One (1) or more years of experience preparing or reviewing Financial Statements.
- Experience participating as a team member to complete a project.
Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE,

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.
This is an in-office Monday through Friday, 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week position with no telework offered.
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
This position has responsibilities involving procedures adopted by the Department, Division, and Bureau. The procedures are part of the internal control structure used to provide reasonable assurance that objectives are met This position shall use, comply with, and, if needed, improve these controls and procedures in the performance of duties within the Bureau of Financial Reporting.
Collaborates with the supervisor in accomplishing the Chief Financial Officer’s constitutional and statutory duties of accounting for state funds. This includes administration, review, audit or oversight of statewide programs having a significant role in the preparation or administration of budgets for public agency or institution or subdivision thereof. Collaborates with the Financial Administrator (FA) in coordinating and conducting the activities involved in the preparation of the Florida Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Independently collects, analyzes, and compiles financial information from state agencies to facilitate the preparation of the ACFR. This involves the use and development of databases, developing written procedures and providing guidance and training to both Departmental employees and employees of other state agencies concerning the procedures, requirements and objectives of the Statewide Financial Reporting Section.
Review and aids in implementing Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) statements for the State of Florida, including developing an implementation plan, timeline and activating such a plan as necessary.
Collaborates in developing accounting policies that will be applicable to all agencies. Independently aids in preparing and developing training/class materials, technical communications with state agencies and responses to the GASS and other professional communications.
