Are you an experienced travel industry professional with a deep understanding of travel regulation, policy and government affairs?
We are a leading travel trade association looking for an exceptional Industry Affairs Manager to lead our work on industry policy, regulation and reputation. This is a high-profile role where you will represent the interests of our members with Government, regulators and industry bodies, while ensuring members receive expert guidance on the issues that matter most.

About the Role
Reporting to the Executive Director, you will be the recognised expert on travel regulation and policy, leading AITO's voice on industry affairs and representing the Association at key industry forums.
You will provide authoritative advice to members and play a key role in maintaining AITO’s reputation as a trusted and influential voice within the travel industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and interpret UK and international travel regulation, including ATOL, Package Travel Regulations and FCDO guidance.
- Provide clear, practical guidance to members on regulatory, financial protection and operational issues.
- Develop AITO policy positions and produce consultation responses, policy papers and briefings in collaboration with committees and the Board.
- Represent AITO with Government, regulators and industry bodies.
- Manage relationships with lobbying partners and trade associations.
- Support membership criteria and compliance frameworks.
- Handle complex member queries and complaints.
- Promote the value of AITO Financial Protection Services (AFPS).
- Act as an authoritative spokesperson where appropriate.
- Work closely with AITO’s PR agency and Governing Board to shape messaging and respond to media enquiries.
- Contribute flexibly to wider AITO activities as part of a small team.
About You
You will bring:
- Extensive experience within the travel and tourism industry (essential).
- Deep knowledge of travel regulation and industry policy.
- Strong experience in lobbying, public affairs or engaging with Government and regulatory bodies.
- Credibility and confidence when working with senior stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building skills.
- Political awareness and commercial pragmatism.
- The ability to interpret complex regulation and communicate it clearly and practically.
- A collaborative approach and the flexibility to contribute across a small, high-performing team.
