Working closely with executive leadership, manufacturers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and U.S. Government agencies, you will play an integral role in ensuring regulatory compliance while supporting the continued growth of our international business.
What You'll Do
As our International Trade Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for managing and supporting all aspects of U.S. import and export compliance, including:
- Preparing and managing export license applications under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
- Ensuring compliance with applicable U.S. import and export laws and regulations.
- Preparing export documentation, including Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Shipper's Letters of Instruction (SLIs), Certificates of Origin, and other international shipping documents.
- Coordinating international shipments with freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, and overseas customers.
- Classifying products using:
- Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCNs)
- U.S. Munitions List (USML) Categories
- Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) Codes
- Schedule B classifications
- Preparing and reviewing Electronic Export Information (EEI) filings through AES.
- Maintaining export licensing records and ensuring compliance with license conditions.
- Supporting import documentation and regulatory compliance activities.
- Monitoring changes to U.S. trade regulations and implementing compliance improvements.
- Working with U.S. Government agencies, including:
- Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS)
- Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC)
- Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF)
- U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
- Assisting management with compliance audits, internal procedures, and process improvements.
- Supporting international business development by ensuring efficient and compliant execution of global shipments.
QualificationsRequired
- Experience in international trade compliance, import/export compliance, or export licensing.
- Working knowledge of:
- ATF import regulations
- Export Administration Regulations (EAR)
- International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
- Experience preparing international shipping and export documentation.
- Knowledge of ECCN, USML, HTS, and Schedule B product classifications.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
Preferred
- Three or more years of import/export compliance experience.
- Experience using SNAP-R and familiarity with DECCS.
- Experience preparing AES/EEI filings.
- Experience working with freight forwarders and international logistics providers.
- Background in the firearms, defense, aerospace, military, law enforcement, or other highly regulated industries.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, International Trade, Supply Chain, Logistics, Political Science, or a related field is preferred but not required. Equivalent professional experience will be considered.
