Cornerstone Government Relations is seeking a motivated Junior Associate to join its government and corporate relations team.

This is an ideal opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional with a strong interest in government affairs, public policy, corporate strategy and client service. The successful candidate will work closely with senior team members across client research, project coordination, communications, content development and foundational government relations activity.

Position overview

As a Junior Associate, you will support Cornerstone’s government and corporate relations team by assisting with client research, meeting preparation, project coordination, social media and website content, and day-to-day client support.

This role is well suited to someone who is curious, organised and eager to learn, with strong written and oral communication skills and an interest in the intersection of government, business and public policy.

Key responsibilities

The Junior Associate will:

  • Conduct background research on client industries, government policies and public affairs issues.
  • Support the preparation of client briefs, policy summaries, market insights and proposal materials.
  • Assist with client meeting preparation, including compiling background materials, taking meeting notes and tracking action items.
  • Help coordinate meetings between clients, government representatives and key stakeholders.
  • Draft and edit basic correspondence, memos, internal reports and communications materials under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Support the development of social media and website content.
  • Track deadlines and assist with project timelines to ensure client deliverables are completed on schedule.
  • Assist in organising events, conferences and other client engagements.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure timely communication with clients and stakeholders.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience – 2 years experience in a parliamentary or ministerial office.
  • Education – A bachelor’s degree in political science, law, public policy, communications or a related field.
  • Skills – Strong research, organisational and written communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attributes – Eagerness to learn, adaptability, professionalism and a strong interest in government, policy and corporate strategy.
