We are supporting a leading global transformation consultancy in hiring a Managing Director (Client Executive) to lead and grow their Public Sector Transport practice.
This is a high-impact leadership role with full ownership of a critical portfolio across major UK transport bodies including Network Rail and the Department for Transport.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping strategy, driving growth, and leading complex transformation programmes across the UK public transport ecosystem.
🌍 The Opportunity
This role offers a unique platform to:
- Own and grow a multi-million-pound Public Sector Transport portfolio
- Act as a senior client executive across key transport accounts
- Drive new business origination and account expansion
- Lead large-scale transformation programmes across central government transport bodies
You will sit within the senior leadership team and take ownership of a significant Public Sector portfolio, with responsibility for both growth and delivery.
🎯 What You Will Be Doing
- Acting as Client Executive and P&L owner for a portfolio of Public Sector Transport clients
- Leading the growth of key accounts across organisations such as DfT, Network Rail, and wider transport bodies
- Developing and executing account growth strategies to expand existing relationships and win new logos
- Leading large, complex programmes across:
- Operating model and organisational design
- Workforce transformation
- Programme and project delivery (e.g. TfL)
- Change and transformation
- Building and leveraging a strong industry network across public transport
- Leading, mentoring, and scaling high-performing consulting teams
- Acting as a visible thought leader within the transport and public sector ecosystem
🧠 What We Are Looking For
- Recent consulting experience is essential (Big 4, Tier 1 or boutique consultancy)
- Deep expertise within Public Sector Transport (non-negotiable)
- Strong network across organisations such as DfT, Network Rail, TfL, or wider transport bodies
- Proven track record of:
- Winning and growing client accounts
- Delivering large-scale transformation programmes
- Operating at Senior Director or Managing Director level
- Commercially strong with experience managing multi-million-pound portfolios and revenue targets
- Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on client delivery
