  • About the LMPD

The LMPD (Media Platform & Development programme) is a two-year initiative designed to build a sustainable digital media platform for Libyan journalists. The programme combines a structured fellowship for emerging journalists (Tawfik Fellows) with the development of a bilingual (Arabic/English) online platform that serves as both an editorial outlet and a thriving professional community for journalists and media actors across Libya.

  • Position Overview

The (Media Project Officer) is a cross-functional role responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, and implementation of the organization’s digital, editorial, and community engagement workstreams. The position plays a key role in ensuring effective delivery of programme activities, smooth coordination across internal teams and external partners, and high-quality outputs aligned with organizational objectives.

The role combines project management support, digital systems coordination, editorial oversight, and community facilitation. It contributes to the operational delivery of multiple programmes by ensuring activities are well-planned, efficiently implemented, and properly documented.

The officer works closely with technical partners, content producers, programme participants, and stakeholders to support the development of effective digital platforms, knowledge products, and professional communities.

  • Key Responsibilities

  • Programme, Project Management & Implementation
  • Support the planning, coordination, and implementation of organizational programmes and projects from inception to completion.
  • Contribute to annual and project work planning, activity scheduling, budgeting, and operational coordination across multiple initiatives.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of programme activities in compliance with organizational priorities, donor requirements, and internal policies and procedures.
  • Monitor implementation progress, identify risks and operational bottlenecks, and support the development of practical solutions.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, partners, and service providers to ensure effective programme delivery.
  • Support procurement, contracting, logistics, and other administrative processes required for successful programme implementation.
  • Maintain accurate programme documentation and contribute to technical and donor reporting.

  • Digital Platforms & Systems Coordination
  • Coordinate the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the organization's digital platforms, knowledge management systems, and online tools.
  • Liaise with developers, designers, and technical service providers by preparing technical briefs, tracking deliverables, coordinating testing, and supporting quality assurance.
  • Ensure digital systems are functional, user-friendly, secure, and aligned with organizational and programme needs.
  • Support the rollout, onboarding, and adoption of digital platforms by staff, partners, and programme participants.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and continuous enhancement of digital resources and knowledge repositories.

  • Editorial Coordination & Knowledge Management
  • Coordinate the planning, production, and quality assurance of organizational publications, learning resources, and knowledge products.
  • Develop and apply editorial standards, content workflows, and quality control processes.
  • Coordinate internal teams, consultants, researchers, and external contributors to ensure timely production of high-quality outputs.
  • Support the development, organization, and maintenance of toolkits, guidance materials, publications, and digital knowledge resources.
  • Ensure all content reflects organizational values, ethical standards, accessibility principles, and conflict-sensitive approaches.

  • Communications, Visibility & Digital Engagement
  • Support the implementation of communication and visibility strategies across organizational programmes and initiatives.
  • Manage and coordinate digital communication channels, including websites, newsletters, social media platforms, and online engagement tools.
  • Coordinate content planning, publication schedules, and dissemination activities to strengthen organizational visibility and audience engagement.
  • Monitor communication performance using basic analytics and contribute to regular reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure consistent messaging, branding, and communication standards across all programme activities and platforms.

  • Community Engagement & Stakeholder Coordination
  • Support the development and coordination of professional networks, communities of practice, and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
  • Facilitate peer learning, mentorship activities, collaborative exchanges, and knowledge-sharing opportunities.
  • Coordinate the planning and delivery of workshops, consultations, training programmes, networking events, and community activities, both online and in person.
  • Support the moderation of online communities and engagement platforms to foster safe, inclusive, and constructive participation.
  • Maintain participant, partner, and stakeholder databases, ensuring accurate records for programme management, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting (MEL).

  • Required Qualifications & Experience
  • 5+ years of professional experience in journalism, editorial management, content strategy, or digital media.
  • Proven experience managing digital platforms, content management systems (CMS), or similar tools.
  • Strong editorial background with demonstrated ability to produce or edit high-quality written content.
  • Experience in community management, moderation, or building engaged online communities.
  • Fluent in both Arabic and English (working level) – essential for editorial and community management.
  • Excellent project management skills with ability to juggle multiple workstreams.
  • Experience working in sensitive contexts, with understanding of conflict-sensitive communication and Do No Harm principles.

  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in journalism or media development in the MENA region.
  • Experience with digital safety, online harassment, or security issues facing journalists.
  • Familiarity with social media analytics, SEO, and digital audience engagement strategies.
  • Experience mentoring or training emerging journalists.
  • Knowledge of open-source platform tools or CMS platforms.
