About the position

Work environment
As an Occupational Safety Officer, you will play a key role in supporting and advancing occupational health and safety across RCMP workplaces throughout Nova Scotia. You will provide expert advice and guidance to managers, employees, workplace health and safety committees, and other stakeholders on a wide range of occupational safety  this role, you will conduct workplace inspections, audits, investigations, hazard assessments, and program reviews to identify risks and recommend practical solutions that promote a safe and healthy work environment.

You will monitor and evaluate occupational safety program performance, develop and deliver training and awareness initiatives, and support compliance with occupational health and safety legislation, policies, and standards.

Working in diverse and dynamic environments, you will collaborate with internal and external partners, contribute to incident response and special operations when required, and serve as a trusted advisor on occupational safety issues affecting RCMP employees across the province.

Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to staff one (1) indeterminate position in Dartmouth, NS. Applicants are encouraged to apply ONLY if they are able to relocate or commute to the advertised location of work.

A pool of qualified candidates inclusive of Public Service (PS) employees and Civilian Members (CM); may be established through this process to staff identical or similar EG-06 / SP-TC-06 positions on a temporary or permanent full‐time basis.

Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.
