Operations and Strategy Manager Jobs in Toronto, Ontario, Canada at Morson Edge (Canada)

Title: Operations and Strategy Manager

Company: Morson Edge (Canada)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Our client is establishing a Canadian-manufactured, NATO-certified, ITAR-free unmanned aerial systems capability designed to meet allied defense, security, and infrastructure needs at scale. They are looking for someone to join them as an Operations and Strategy Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Project manage high-priority operational initiatives on behalf of leadership. Work cross-functionally to align stakeholders, drive accountability, and maintain momentum on deliverables. The nature of initiatives will vary – facilities, partnerships, capital projects – but the role owns the coordination layer, not the functional execution.
  • Own the internal operating system that keeps leadership aligned and initiatives on track. This includes structuring and running leadership meetings, maintaining cross-functional priority tracking, and ensuring decisions, owners, and timelines are documented and visible. As the company scales, this role is the connective tissue between leadership direction and operational team execution.
  • Own grant applications end-to-end – drafting, financial plans, company narratives, and submissions. Manage reporting obligations and claims for active grants. Coordinate with external advisors where engaged.
  • Maintain continuity across external relationships – professional services firms, advisors, government contacts, brokers, and other partners. Not relationship ownership, but ensuring follow-through, information flow, and accountability across parties so nothing falls through the cracks.
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities to improve how the organization operates as it scales – workflow automation, AI tooling, process redesign, and internal systems. Build the business case, coordinate implementation, and track outcomes.
  • Perform project and initiative-level financial analysis – P&Ls, cost-benefit assessments, build-vs-buy comparisons, scenario analysis. Supports decision-making across operational initiatives – not an FP&A function.
  • Prepare materials for leadership, investors, and government stakeholders. Maintain visibility into cross-functional priorities and flag risks to leadership proactively.

Proven Ability / Key Skills

  • Background in management consulting, corporate strategy, or a high-growth startup ops role.
  • Demonstrated grant writing experience with Canadian government programs.
  • Track record of driving cross-functional projects to completion without direct authority.
  • Experience managing external vendor and partner relationships in a coordination capacity.
  • Comfortable building and interpreting financial models at the project level.
  • Exposure to process improvement or automation initiatives.
  • Experience with manufacturing process operational efficiency and automation is an asset.
  • Defence, aerospace, or deep-tech background is a plus.
