Job Overview:

We are seeking a capable and highly effective candidate to run the production department at our company. This position reports directly to the General Manager and requires a self-starting individual who prides themselves at being the best they can be when challenged with new opportunities.

The Production Manager is responsible for ensuring that all production lines run efficiently and smoothly in order to meet project deadlines and customer requirements. This applies to all relevant activities that influence the inventory layout, technicians, equipment setup and facility organization. The responsibilities include: scheduling production, ERP system entries, and BOM and work instruction creation and organization. In addition to executing on best practices in these areas, a focus on the continuous improvement of quality and efficiency in assembly workflow is also necessary.

The right candidate needs to be organized, hardworking and motivated while understanding the difference between going through the motions and focusing their efforts on the optimal tasks to yield a desired outcome. Hence, we are seeking someone who can think strategically, solve problems, exercise commonsense, prioritize their work and choose the most appropriate steps to accomplish each goal regardless of whether the steps are simple or highly complex. This role carries a great deal of responsibility since the company depends on it to function at its best.

Job Functions & Responsibilities:

Administration and management of the company’s production line with responsibility for timely delivery of completed products with the following responsibilities:

Manufacturing

  • Prepare analysis & recommendations of work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, & design layout for maximum efficiency
  • Develop & execute capital cost justification for new tooling, equipment, cost savings initiatives
  • Manage the setup and installation of new tooling and equipment
  • Revise and document manufacturing parameters & processes as required to define expectations for operators, leads, and Maintenance personnel
  • Responsible for the hiring, discipline, and termination of hourly production employees
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing processes
  • Ensure the daily, weekly, and monthly production goals are met

  • Payroll daily oversite and approval
  • Additional duties as required

Quality

  • Develop and implement internal quality controls and testing to meet quality procedures
  • Develop root cause analysis to determine the cause of quality problems and equipment safety; implement corrective and preventative actions
  • Maintain accurate quality reporting and logs

Inventory Control

  • Ensure inventory is complete, accurate and compliance is maintained
  • Ensure that inventory is being ordered in a timely manner to eliminate downtime.

Safety

  • Perform routine tasks such as safety management, incident investigations and workplace safety observations
  • Identify, develop and conduct required EHS training and implement, oversee, and adapt policies and programs to improve the organization's EHS performance
  • Ensure proper housekeeping and safety practices.
  • Ensure all OSHA Standards and practices are being adhered to
  • Annual OSHA reporting

Qualifications & Experience:

Candidates must have a minimum of the following qualifications and experience to be considered:

  • Expert level of proficiency with PC – Windows, MS-Office, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Strong writing, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and not overreact under pressure

Additional qualifications that are beneficial but not mandatory:

  • 3+ years of management experience in a fast-paced, small production work environment
  • Intermediate proficiency with CAD software
  • A background in mechanical or industrial engineering
  • Experience with government contracting is beneficial but not mandatory
  • Experience with ERP or MRP systems is beneficial but not mandatory
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is beneficial but not mandatory

Work Schedule: Full time position, Monday-Friday

Location: Blountville, TN

Compensation: Dependent on experience
