Key Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day implementation and coordination of UNEP's environmental projects in Uzbekistan, with a particular focus on the Japan-funded Termez project on sand and dust storms (SDS), air pollution, and nature-based solutions.
  • Coordinate project implementation with government institutions, technical partners, UN agencies, consultants, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor the progress of project activities and deliverables, following up with partners to ensure timely implementation.
  • Conduct research and provide technical inputs on air pollution, sand and dust storms, nature-based solutions, and environmental policy in Uzbekistan.
  • Prepare project documentation, including concept notes, reports, briefing materials, presentations, and knowledge products.
  • Organize meetings, consultations, workshops, trainings, and other project events, including logistical and on-site coordination.
  • Maintain communication and coordination with local counterparts, development partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop communication and visibility materials, including website and social media content, event summaries, and photo documentation.
  • Monitor environmental policy and institutional developments in Uzbekistan and provide updates to support project implementation and future programming.
  • Perform other duties related to UNEP project implementation in Uzbekistan.

Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental protection, sustainability, ecology, international relations, business management, global development, or a related field.
  • 3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in project coordination, implementation support, or administration of environmental or sustainable development projects.
  • Experience supporting projects on air pollution, climate, environmental governance, or related issues is an asset.
  • Experience working with the United Nations or another international development organization is desirable.
  • Experience conducting research, analysis, and drafting reports, briefing notes, presentations, and other written materials.
  • Experience organizing meetings, workshops, trainings, and multi-stakeholder events.
  • Good knowledge of environmental issues in Uzbekistan is desirable.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), email, and online meeting platforms.
  • Interest in environmental issues, volunteerism, and the UN system.

Knowledge of Russian, English and Uzbek is mandatory.
