Hiring Range (estimate): $19.16 – $22.51 per hour
Range explanation:
Hiring Range is an estimate for an offer; actual salary will consider skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity. Pay Range is the full compensation range for the position.

Essential Functions

  • Receives, organizes, and maintains department records including written reports, photographs, videos, and audio recordings in physical and digital formats in accordance with state retention laws and department and county procedures;
  • Processes videos from body camera units and redacts sensitive, personal, and identifiable information such as faces, addresses, medical information, and graphic content to protect privacy and safety;
  • Receives requests from law enforcement agencies, justice departments, the media, and the public for access to official information, reports, and records, and ensures material is released only to authorized personnel;
  • Collects Arizona Crash Reports for traffic accidents on public roadways, verifies mandatory information, captures data in the department’s database, and scans reports for digital storage;
  • Takes delivery of impounded vehicles and arranges storage; liaises with vehicle owners, lien holders, law enforcement, attorneys, insurance and towing companies regarding payment of towing, storage, and release fees, and releases vehicles to authorized persons upon receipt of identifying documents such as a valid driver’s license, current vehicle registration, and proof of mandatory vehicle insurance;
  • Accepts payments for information and services provided, issues official receipts, and deposits cash, checks, and other forms of payment at the bank;
  • Maintains confidentiality and security of all records processed, stored, and encountered during duties.

Minimum Qualifications

• Six (6) months of experience performing file maintenance (electronic or manual) in a centralized records maintenance, storage, or archive facility. (Relevant education or experience from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)

• One (1) year of experience with Pima County as a Public Safety Specialist, Public Safety Transcription Technician, or other similar level position as determined by the department head.

Selection Procedure

• Pima County Human Resources reserves the right to admit only candidates that meet the minimum/desired qualifications. All applications will be assessed by evaluation of listed education and experience. Candidates meeting qualifications may be further evaluated or scored against advertised preferred qualifications. Additional assessments may be required.

Supplemental Information

• Valid driver’s license is required at time of application and at time of appointment (AZ license). Successful applicant will undergo a 39‑month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine suitability to operate county vehicles. Failure to obtain or maintain required licensure will be grounds for termination.

• The County requires pre‑employment background checks. Successful candidates will receive a post‑offer, pre‑employment background screening including verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history. A prior conviction does not automatically disqualify a candidate. Some positions may require satisfactory completion of a personal background investigation by law enforcement. Some positions may encounter rodents, insects, and mildew/fungus; necessary protective clothing, equipment, and training will be provided.

This position will require a post‑job offer physical and/or drug screen.

Physical and Working Conditions

• Ability to lift and carry boxes of records up to 50 pounds, climb and descend ladders and work platforms while carrying boxes, and work in extremes of heat, cold, humidity, and dust. Requires grasping, fine movement, speaking in person and on the phone, and vision.
