Corporate Affairs & Scientific Engagement Lead – Headcount position

The primary purpose of this position is to strategically lead and innovate in the areas of scientific engagement and corporate affairs to support the development and implementation of harm reduction approaches and risk-proportionate regulation. This role is essential in leveraging scientific substantiation in alignment with PMI Science to engage with Key Scientific Opinion Leaders, contributing to the acceptance of Tobacco Harm Reduction and advocating for evidence-based regulation in international arena. The Executive will serve as an ambassador for the company, fostering strategic partnerships, driving international agenda, and enhancing public and institutional understanding of risk-proportionate regulation. The position ensures alignment with Philip Morris International’s global strategies and local business objectives, contributing to the company’s long-term success in Armenia.

Scientific Engagement

  • Identify global and market-specific key scientific opinion leaders, develop and execute engagement plans in collaboration with EA and R&D Teams. Support existing possibilities and seek new opportunities in scientific engagement to build up an up-to-date reserve of Key Opinion Leaders.
  • Drive KSOL activation through evidence‑based interactions, ensuring consistent scientific dialogue and KSOL public vocality in line with harm‑reduction objectives.
  • Identify scientific networking opportunities, create market specific plans to capitalize on these opportunities. Engage, and collaborate with independent medical and healthcare organizations, to update their healthcare education initiatives for general public and legal age smokers, by including Tobacco Harm Reduction into the programs.
  • Capitalize on the reserve of KSOLs and other stakeholders to pioneer local research initiatives on tobacco harm reduction, encompassing a broad spectrum of studies from non-clinical and clinical trials to comprehensive public health investigations, thereby contributing to local and global understanding and advancement of tobacco harm reduction.
  • Developing position papers, and other materials to communicate the company's stance on SFPs and tobacco harm reduction to government officials, the public and other audiences.
  • Conduct informational and educational activities for medical and scientific community on the topics regarding tobacco harm reduction and science behind SFP. Serve as a primary resource to organize and facilitate high-priority CUBE visits to support EA, Comms and commercial objectives.
  • Act as primary stakeholder in educating office personnel on the Scientific Substantiation of SFPs and the approaches underpinning PMI Science. Continuously update and elevate staff knowledge through trainings and seminar on the latest scientific developments.

Corporate Affairs

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Corporate Affairs strategy aligned with PMI’s global and local business objectives, ensuring it is fully integrated with Philip Morris International's global strategies and the local business plan.
  • Engage with a broad range of stakeholders, including government officials, industry associations, NGOs, and healthcare organizations to support the creation of coalition that supports risk-proportionate regulation.
  • Represent the company in negotiations and policy discussions, articulating and defending the company’s positions on complex issues to shape favorable outcomes.
  • Conduct thorough research, analysis, and stakeholder consultation to develop regulatory and legislative proposals, while continuously monitoring and evaluating relevant local and regional regulatory developments. Provide scientific, evidence-based argumentation to support harm‑reduction‑oriented policies and ensure alignment with the company’s strategic objectives.
  • Facilitate the company’s engagement on the international agenda by coordinating strategic input into global policy discussions, ensuring local and regional alignment with evolving frameworks, and proactively shaping external environments to support favorable regulatory outcomes that reflect the principles of risk-proportionate regulation.
  • Oversee and elevate the development of local laboratory capacity within state institutions, orchestrating cutting-edge infrastructure and methodologies to ensure testing capabilities of SFP products.
  • Act as the sustainability coordinator in the market, overseeing and integrating sustainability initiatives across all departments to ensure a cohesive and impactful approach. Provide strategic guidance and foster cross-functional collaboration to embed sustainability into core business operations and decision-making processes.
  • Ensure alignment with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives by driving the implementation of responsible practices, monitoring performance against key sustainability indicators, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
