Consultant Engagement | 0.5 FTE | 6-Month Contract | West Perth, WA
The College of Engineering, Science and Technology (CEST) is seeking an experienced educational leader to guide the establishment and registration of a new independent senior secondary school in Western Australia.
CEST is being established by the Engineering Institute of Technology (EIT) and will deliver an innovative Year 11 and 12 STEM-focused educational model combining ATAR and VET pathways, personalised learning, industry engagement, and direct articulation into higher education programs.
Following the successful achievement of Advance Determination from the WA Director General of Education, we are now seeking a highly experienced consultant to lead the next phase of the school's development: full registration under the School Education Act 1999 (WA).
The Opportunity:
This consultancy engagement will work directly with the CEST Board and project team to prepare and coordinate all documentation and evidence required for registration.
The successful consultant will provide expert advice on school governance, educational design, policy development, compliance, and operational readiness while helping shape an innovative STEM-focused senior secondary school from inception.
This role is ideally suited to:
- A recently retired or semi-retired principal
- A current or former deputy principal or executive school leader
- An education consultant with experience establishing or registering non-government schools
- A senior leader seeking a flexible, high-impact project
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead preparation of documentation supporting registration against the WA Registration Standards.
- Develop and review policies, procedures, governance frameworks, and compliance documentation.
- Advise the Board and project team on educational and operational matters.
- Support engagement with relevant stakeholders, including AISWA, SCSA and the Department of Education.
- Provide strategic advice on curriculum delivery, student wellbeing, governance and school operations.
- Contribute to the development of innovative delivery models and student support frameworks.
Essential Experience:
- Demonstrated experience with the WA non-government school registration process.
- Experience as a Principal, Deputy Principal, Director, Registrar, or equivalent senior educational leader.
- Strong policy development and educational governance expertise.
- Comprehensive understanding of secondary education operations and compliance requirements.
- Excellent written communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Desirable Experience:
- Experience establishing a new school or major educational initiative.
- Knowledge of VET delivery within a secondary school context.
- Familiarity with innovative or alternative education models.
Engagement Details:
- Consultant engagement
- Approximately 0.5 FTE equivalent
- Six-month project (with potential extension)
- Able to travel to EIT's West Perth office for meetings as required.
