Primary Function
This position is responsible for conducting product development work in the laboratory and pilot plant by developing and evaluating specialty starches in various type of dairy applications. This position also provides technical support to Marketing, Technical Service, Sales, Operations and external customers, when required.

Product ApplicationWork on medium and long term dairy application projects that have significant business impact. This encompasses design of experiment, recipe development, process studies and in-depth analysis in ingredient functionalities and starch complex with other ingredients in dairy goods. Provide effective oral and written communication to prepare project reports and application training materials.Technical SupportProvide in-depth technical solutions in ingredient, formulation, processing procedure and process optimization to go-to-market teams and external customers. Conduct seminar and technical training for internal and external customers. Attend to pilot / production trial at customer’s premises.Laboratory managementEnsure proper housekeeping of the ingredients, appliances, equipment and food samples required for the projects. Conduct scheduled maintenance of assigned laboratory / pilot plant equipment.
Agility and Innovation
New Product DevelopmentSupport innovation in development of new ideas, new products or new product platforms through ideation sessions, literature searches and bench-top experimentation, along with ability to communicate the concept effectively. Evaluate experimental samples in dairy applications and work closely with Marketing to develop robust value propositions for new product launch.TechnologyKeep up to date on information on food trends and technology. Interact with global technology team to exchange key learning, information and best practices. Have clear understanding of customer’s and market requirements.
Relationships and People
SafetyParticipate actively in safety programs on-site. Continuously provide suggestions to upgrade safety awareness in the company.
Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements:
- Minimum a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science / Technology.
- At least 5 – 10 years’ experience in a research and development role across various food applications with Bachelor’s degree.
- Possess in-depth expertise in a particular application.
- Good project management skills, good communication skills, analytical, methodological, ability to multi-task, results oriented.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point).
- Fluent in English and Chinese.
- Ability to travel, up to 20%.
- Good track records of successful product development / launches.
